1987 3.0 140hp.. convert to electronic ignition converstion

Will keep this brief.... ordered Mallory Electronic Conversion Kit 9-26900.... so I dont have to mess around with points again.. I'd like input from those who switched out also, if you were glad you did it and why? thanks

I installed a Pertronics about 15 years ago. Since then better mileage, smoother running, more consistent running and never an issue with corroded points. Haven't needed to adjust the timing since then. No experience with Mallory though.

I did a Pertronix in my old boat and was really happy with it.

thanks, have heard jumpers are not needed to reset timing????

Answered my own ? Called tech support at mallory..drop plate in dist. No further timing needed.. motor/points were just serviced motor timed anyway. so I should be good. Looking forward to see if it runs any better
