I have taken the carb out of my engine and am going to attempt to take it apart and clean it using a selic manual. Does anyone have any advise or tips?? When you buy the carb kit does it just have the gaskets or does it give you something to clean it with???

Follow the manual and you will be fine. That is a simple carb. They do not give you any cleaner with the kit. Get yourself some Gumout or similar spray cleaner at your nearest auto parts store and follow the procedure in the Manual for cleaning all the passages in the carb out. It is recommended that you blow out all passages with compressed air after you spray them with carb cleaner, if possible...

Edit: You may want to check out this site, as it has exploded views of the carb...

web page

Typical rebuild Kit:

web page

Shawn...carb kits usually have a mixture of gaskets, +/- jets, +/- mixing (adjusting) screws, float pin etc. You'll need to supply your own cleaning solvent. Something I've learned over time...before removing any mixing screws, gently tighten up on them until you JUST feel a little resistance, and count the number of rotations it took to do this. Later when you replace these screws, you once again tighten them in until you JUST get some resistance, and then back them out the number of turns you counted before. Assuming that the settings were good or ball park when they were removed, you now have them right back where you started. One other thing...make sure the cleaning solvent you are using won't destroy any plastic or rubber parts. Usually you remove these before any soaking if you intend to do that. Good luck!
