1987 50hp force motor question?

New to boats in general and I'm not sure if my engine is supposed to have an air filter attached to the carb? The carb just seemed really exposed. I am used to cars so maybe I am just ignorant and their isn't supposed to be one.

Also It has the manual trim/tilt but i am pretty sure something is missing....anyone have a diagram or a close up?

No air filter.
Some different carbs have difusers or covers.
No dirt on the water.
1987 Force Outboard H0507C87A MOTOR LEG Diagram and Parts Over on b o a t s . net they have parts diagrams.
Pics of what you have under there will help???
