:(Is there anything i should check other than the headgasket? or while replacing the headgasket should i check or replace any other parts? i replaced the impellar today and rebuilt both carbs. i ran the motor last week and it seemed to only be running on one cylinder. It was peeing fine but wanted to be sure and thats when i found water on the top plug. seems like its always something going on with this motor. Thanks guys for all your help.

how about a compression check first, then head gasket.

I pulled the head and found a hole in the gasket about an 1/4 inch hole in the top cylinder. i removed all the moisture and replaced the thermostat and water jacket gasket. i ran the boat and she runs better than ever. i wonder if much if any damage was done to the top cylinder. it never overheated, I guess just old age on the gasket.
