Sorry for the long post but I think the info is needed.
1987 Suzuki 175 hp.
I rebuilt the engine in 2004 replacing 2 pistons and salvaged crank.( no I did'nt spend a lot of money to fix this old engine )
Once running I only used it several times and just to fine tune.
The last time I went to use it I noticed a small hole in the crank case near top carb. To condense this story I replaced the crank case with one I had from a Super-Six 150.
Since replacing the crank case the engine seems to runnig on 2 or 3 cyllinders. I have replace plugs to eliminate the obvious, compression test is good, diconnected all bullet connectors and reconnected to verify, checked and reconnected all grounds.I do notice 4 of the six spark plugs seem to be dry and as shiny as out of package new. The 2 that are firing the hardest look like I would expect a plug to look after burning fuel. I guess what I really need are some good ignition and CDI test procedure that I can do with a standard Fluke digital ohm meter. ( yes I do have a Clymer repair manual but looking for advice from a surnuff mechanic. I have plenty more info I could post but I think it might be easier to respond to questions.

Thanks in advance

Kuder, welcome to iboats!!

This is a very busy forum site and sometimes posts can get lost in the crowd. Try bumping your post to take it to the top of the list - help will come.

You're sarcasm will only attract sarcasm - not help.

Aldo

Re: 1987 DT-175 ignition problems

Kuder-
Have you had any luck diagnosing your problem. I have a super six that is doing the same thing. Intermittant running on 3 cyl only. Somedays it runs on all 6 and other days it'll bog on 3 and then take off and run the rest of the day. I haven't had any luck talking to dealers. They say I must have some sort of bad sensor but don't have any idea where to start testing.

Checked fire to plugs all ok. The next thing I will try is to replace plugs hoping I got a bad lot! This did occur once before with a new set and ran fine when replaced. Compression per cyllinder ~ 100psi, carbs clean and operational. I can't find any electrical problems. I do have a question about the low oil warning float in the tank... Is this sensor normally opened or closed. The oil injection has been diabled and am now mixing oil to fuel so does this sensor need to be pluged in or not?
