Three questions on a just-acquired 1987 Evinrude 2.5 HP:
First, I am seeking an online source of the 1987 or 1988 owner's manual for the 2.5 HP. (New to forum, so probably a link is here somewhere and I did not use correct search parameters.)
Second, the small plastic gear on top of motor just behind throttle - what does it operate?
Third, previous owner lost not-easily-replaced pieces of mounting bracket, including the notched tilt, pin, spring, and other pieces. Not economically viable to purchase from most salvage operations I've contacted. Any ideas on cross-fitment of mounting bracket and related pieces to other models/years or other ideas on how I can economically replace?

The little plastic gear is the idle stop. I have mine set at the lowest sustainable idle but I assume you could also use it to set a trolling speed.

The tilt pin can be improvised, if that's what you are referencing -- adjusts the trim angle. You might be on the lookout for a parts motor if you need more complex assemblies.

Thanks to Oldboat1, Crosbyman and Bullie for the responses. Bullie - does the plastic gear act by pushing push the throttle handle open in a very fine adjustment?

....and Bullie - do you happen to have an online source of an Owner's Manual (not shop manual) for the 1987/1988 2.5HP?
