Well, I have an '88 50 hp Johnson that I wouldn't sell for less than $700, but that's just a ballpark number.

$500-900 depending on condition IMO..and yes they are good motors IF you get a good one. Buy yourself a engine compression gauge and learn how to use it..also a spark gap tester..these 2 tools are invaluable when purchasing used motors specially if you cant river test motor before buying. you can easily get into over $500 repairs if you get a motor that has not been kept up well.

Thank you both for your replies . This motor is offered by a dealer who has gone throgh it and I assume " fixed it up " and comes with a 30 day warranty . Would that in your opinion raiase its value ? How low would a dealer go in his price for this motor ? Thanks again .

Well, the 30 day warranty is a good thing and yes, that would raise the price a bit. As for how low he'll go is impossible to say. He knows he has a good motor there and will sell it soon either to you, or, someone else. It all comes down to how bad you want it and what you're going to do with it. Personally, $800 would be top price for me.
