Leander: The tilt was never designed to be used at any speed. If you try to tilt the engine at more than about 1000 RPM, it just will not do it. There are relief valves in the pump and tilt cylinder to prevent excessive pressure and allow the engine to tilt up quickly then drop slowly if an underwater object is hit.
If you tilt the engine at idle and then hit the throttle, it will be pushed down onto the trim cylinder.
So, if you need to travel through shallow water with the engine tilted, it must be at no wake speed.
