Have a 1987 Force and recently replaced the valve body for with an aftermarket part. I filled it up and tried to run it and NOTHING HAPPENED..... I can hear the clicking comming from the motor and the battery and wiring are all good. Any Ideas where to start looking now.....
Is there a certian was that the motor and valve body are supposed to fit together?

Re: 1987 Force tilt and Trim Problems

if the motor makes hum but does not spin then it is probably because armature not properly seated into gear. take back off boat and assemble valve body onto motor before doing anything else. Once seated and assembled then do not loosen screws. And be careful not to cross thread any ports.

The doa rate is high with aftermarket. About 1 in 10 straight from factory do not work properly. If motor spins, if tubes properly connected, if fluid in reservoir ... and still no lift ... then you may have gotten a bad unit.

You can bench a 2-wire motor just by connecting wires to a battery. Reverse changes direction of spin. That'll tell you if the motor's good anyway.
