Fryed the cdi when I connected cranking terminals to one of the 24v trolling motor batteries.
Spent the next 45 minutes perched on the bow, stuck to my trolling motor doing my best Captain Morgan impression.

Re: 1987 Suxuki DT 150 SuperSix CDI

Called Fridays, wow they know 2 strokes!
There were 2 facts that made him think it might be the low oil reset unit and possibly not the CDI.
I had the oil pump removed in the past, when this incident happened the only damaged burnt wires were the left over connections for the pump and sensor. Secondly, because of the capability to crank the motor.
The advise given was to see if the right bank is shut down using a timing light. I understand that if the reset unit gets a signal from low oil or low water it limits the motors RPM.

I thought that you had already tested things and knew the CDI was bad.

You need the manual and a peak reading voltmeter or a DVA adapter and a regular voltmeter to test inputs to the CDI and the outputs on most of these motors. If bad inputs then you will not get the proper outputs. If you have good inputs but not all outputs are good then you can chase them down with the help of your manual

Your right, when this first happened i took it to my local Suzuki dealer, and they told me it was the CDI.
Is it still possible that it is the reset unit? or should I put total faith in my local dealers knowledge.

I would do what Friday said. Nice guy, met him at service training in 2005.
