Well then, if you farmed out that last bit of work to a local mechanic, I would drop the boat of to him tell him to call you when it's running properly again. No charge of course!

Idle should be set in the water (with backpressure) and in gear not in the driveway. It is awfully suspicious that the problem started after carb work.
