1988 90 HP Johnson Outboard Ignition switch QUESTION

I have a 1988 90 HP Johnson outboard. The ignition key switch went bad so I replaced it. I did the work myself. Now that its replaced the motor starts without problem. However, when I turn the key off the motor continues to run. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but obviously I screwed something up. It's the type that's mounted in the console not in the control box. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'd be more than happy to take pics if anyone thinks that will help diagnose the problem. I'd greatly appreciate any help!

Theres a black yellow wire which must be contacted with ground to turn the motor off.
See if you can find that in the key switch, maybe you put it on the wrong point

Thats a black wire with a yellow stripe, it goes back to the powerpack to kill the ignition when connected to ground

The switch connects the Black/yellow stripe wire to black wire (ground) to kill the motor. So, those two wires must be connected to the "M" terminals on your switch. Are they?

Another reason may be that the neutral (ground) all black wire isnt hooked up to the switch so the switch cant connect the black yellow to ground
