Hi-
I have a 1988 Alpha 1 Gen 1 transom assembly, and I'm in the re-assembly process. I'm at the point where I'm ready to install and set in place both the u-joint bellows and the shift cable bellows. The bell housing water hose is already installed, as is the lower shift cable. I have the shift cable bellows on the shift cable but not attached to anything. My thought for easiest installation is:
1. Install the u-joint bellows onto the bell housing flange (with bellows adhesive and clamp).
2. Push the bell housing onto the transom housing and set the u-joint bellows in place on that flange.
3. Slide the shift cable bellows onto it's flange on the transom housing with bellows adhesive and clamp.
4. Tighten the ring and/or use a zip tie to secure the small end of the shift cable bellows around the lower shift cable.
5. Install the fiber washers and hinge pins.
Does this make sense? Advice?
