my 1988 force 125 pulls hard right when throttling up and running. I've adjusted the tab with no change. Any ideas?

is the motor moving when you apply power? maybe sloppy steering linkages? do you keep the boat in the water for the season, or bring it home after running?

Re: 1988 bayliner cuddy with 125 force pulling to starboard when throttling up

Hello, I just baught the boat, It was kept in the water for a short period every year during summer, but I trailer the boat after every use. The motor doesn't appear to have any movement. I literally have to hold the steering wheel tightly to keep from jetting to the right! Any advice is greatly appreciated. Mike

Check the hull for deformities

They tend to do that if they are trimmed in all the way and, steering gets very heavy. If you want to spend a couple of big ones, try a non- feedback helm from Teleflex. Look it up right in the iboats store.

If you have the option, try a couple of different props. Different brands and pitches will have different torque reactions.

how much "free play" do you have at the helm, in both directions? check it with the boat not moving. is there anything i.e. swim ladder, kicker motor etc that is dragging in the water? and as foodfisher said, have a close look at the hull for anything that looks different from one side to the other. ( ive seen boats that sat in the water with one side having a more southern exposure.....grow more stuff on that side and cause similiar symptoms, but if you trailer it , that shouldnt be a problem)

Which way did you adjust the trim tab? Try turning the tab all the way to the other side....... a few minutes with a wrench and you might be fixed. MANY people adjust the trim tab the wrong way ;)

Thanks for the knowledge, can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. Looking into a few things, a new helm setup is tops on my list!!
