1988 force 50 question

Hi everyone,
I'm kinda new to boats and I am helping a friend of mine work on his 1988 bayliner fish/ski boat with a force 50 motor.

first.. we want to install a new water pump impeller kit but every place we are looking says they are NOT available. Is there another pump kit that will interchange or can you recommend place that would carry them?

second.... do these motors have some kind of air cleaner or spark arrestor over the carb? We noticed that there is nothing over the carb now and it has sucked up some of the foam insulation under the engine cover.

Hi Russ,

I have a 1988 Force 50hp also, as far as I know the carb does not have an air cleaner or spark arrestor, it would restrict the high air intake needed. As far as the water pump assembly, I found mine on Ebay just make sure you know your part #. Just a suggestion, knock the foam out....d

Hi ive just ordered an water pump impeller for my 1989
50force.I think if you check iboats parts thay have them also.As far as i know thay dont have any kind of any thing over the carb but im shure you could make something that would work " like a course screen".Just make shure you attach the screen so it wont come off and possibly enter the carb itself.
