Hi folks, been lurking here a while and finally decided to post... I have a 9.9 hp force that is running good. I've been reading a bunch about how many 9.9's and 15's are essetially similar w/ some minor tweaks to give better horsepower. So, being a typcial red-blooded male i'm naturally interested in this. I'm looking at my owners manual the specs are identical for the 9.9 and 15 listed side by side (bore&stoke, displacement, prop size, plugs, gear ratio, weight, etc.) except for the recommended RPM operating range. I've poured over endless parts diagrams and can't quite figure out if they have the same carb or not (mine has a tillotsen carb). Can anyone who is familiar w/ these old small engines tell me whether squeezing a few more hp out of my 9.9 is feasible without having to change carbs or reeds etc. In other words, is it simply an RPM thing, and then i wonder how do you ramp up the rpm, is there a governor or something similar. The motor runs good, just a bit underpowered on my 14' grumman filled w/ gear and a fishin buddy. Thanks, DAVE
