1988 Mariner tilt/trim problem

only works going down, makes a humming noise but nothing happens or makes the motor go up? any suggestions?

Make sure that the manual releise valve is closed

Make sure it is full of fluid?

Then check the "up" solenoid.<br /><br />-W

could we get a horse power? is this a 3cyl,4cyl,inline 6 or v6. there were many designs in 88.<br /> a slightly better more detailed description will help as well
