I was thinking of getting this as a first boat. It has the 4.3l V-6 with an Alpha One outdrive on it. If this a good boat? Is there any thing I should look out for with a boat of this age? Thanks in advance.

Can't specifically comment on that hull from personal experience, but it and the Glastron 205 would be at the top of my list, but I am a Glastron fan. I own that boats predecessor, a 1976 V-195 and love it. The SSV hull is a flatter hull than I have and should be very effecient, decent riding, and fast. I don't think you would be dissappointed, a bit more power than the 4.3 would be a plus, but not necessary.

Do an on-water sea trial and drive the boat.

Pull skiiers if that is what you are going to do.

Take three or four people along and a full tank of gas if that is what your routine will be.

Ski behind it with an experienced driver if that is your main activity.

Get a mechanical survey and all the maintenance records (I mean all of them) and see what this boat is going to cost you.

Then, buy the boat if you still like it.

Take a look at the blog I setup to chronicle a current Glastron restoration project.
http://boatrepair.sci-fer.com

We have learned a lot. We just purchased this used boatin February, 2009 and thought we were good to go. We were very surprised when we discovered rot. I know people have warned you to check it out extensively before purchasing it. After doing what I thought was "extensive" it wasn't enough. For us the entire transom was rotten, and a stringer was pretty bad too. We're almost halfway through with our project.

My best advice to you, is to look at the signs of rotten wood at the beginning stages of the blog, mentioned above, to check the integrity of the boat.

I hope this helps.
