1988 V6 Excel only running on 5 cylinders?

1984 Checkmate Starflite with 1988 Yamaha V6 Excel.

My knowledge of the motor is limited and I have only run it a couple times. As far as I know it is bored out. My old man is convinced that only 5 cylinders are firing. From my experience there seems to be a little lack of power all around. Also the top speed seems to be slower than what it should be.

The plugs have been replaced. What should the next step be? Anyone have any advice that would help?

Check water separator, fuel filter and hoses. Old gas will make a difference also. If the fuel is old drain out and replace with new.

Next step would be to clean out the carbs.
