I bought this used 125hp Force about three summers ago. Last summer the motor started coughing and bogging at full throttle. At the advice of two mechanics (seperate shops) all four piston were replaced along with the majority of everything else. Total $2000 (CAN). The problem is still there. The boat will run fine up to 4500rpm but will cough and choke after that (feels like it is not getting fuel). Mechanic has can not figure it out and I am getting frustrated. Other than shooting this outboard does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not a boat mech. but worked on Motorcycles years ago. So take my input as things to consider.
1} I ASSUME that it ran GOOD at 1 time since you had it?
2} If yes to #1 then when is the last time you rebuilt the carbs? Did you replace the plugs when you did all the rebuilding? How is the rest of the ignition system?
3}IF you can do the work yourself and you have the carbs apart you may want to try the next step up in main jets.

what if you either pump the squezze bulb press choke or spray a little fuel in carbs when you get to this rpm....would require friend to drive for ya....this should richen mixture for a few secs give you a idea if it is fuel or ignition....I personally have never seen a bad piston just act up over 4500 rpm... what did old ones look like......what do your plugs look like if you try to run at 4400 for a while then shut engine down and check them...avoid doing any idling after this just shut motor down and check them.......be interested if all look the same .....
