1989 50HP Force what have i done

just purchase 17 Alum. boat, w/ this engine. know nothing about force. need manual, starter, plug wires key. i bought the boat , but if i can get it running will use this engine for awhile. i'm a johnny/rude man. best place for parts, and manual, what to look out for with this one. have bought unseen by recomendation of a friend. pick up Tuesday. July 25th. also how do i know if mine is crysler or merc.

Clymer Force repair manual is better than the Seloc version.
Or you can get the factory manuals on ebay.

Iboats mall for aftermarket parts, mercruiserparts.com for factory (Merc) parts.

Chrysler Force, through 1983
US Marine Force 1984-89/90
Mercury Force 1990 and later.

If it truly is an '89, it is a US Marine Force, should have prestolite ignition consisting of 1 BLUE cd module and 2 BLUE coils.

There were only a few different keys, should be a letter on the ignition switch (if you are lucky). Should be able to get replacement from a Merc dealer. Worse case scenario, you may have to replace the switch.

puddle jumper, the on on ebay. yep, pick it up Tuesday. need a lighter boat. down sizing from 18 Bonita Deep V, w/ 1350 Merc. new tow vehicle.

where is the model and serial # on these, seller could only find 50 force crossfire fuel induction.. may have to wait till tuesday.

are you getting one off ebay, i bought the center console one, and there is one there that has the side console. both on 17' blue fin spectrums.

Im picking up mine up of off my dad, hes way to old to use itBut. theres always a catch, i have to take him out on the ocean an go fishing. The spectrum is a side console and is a 1993. He bought it almost new and the only time it ever got used is when he and i went fishing.
I will have to check out the one ebay ebay. Keep me posted on how much you like it . It would intresting intresting to see.

Well i got my boat home today.All ready gone fishing for a week with it . Ran just fine.
Dave have you had any problems with your fuel gage intermitanty working. I tap the gage and it starts to work for a bit and jumps around.This may sound dumb to ask
but my motor is also a 50 force US Marine "what does the US Marine mean"Im gessing the coumpany that made it and is that good or bad .

I have a 89 spectrum with that same 50hp, i was wondering what everybodies top end is ? Mine seems to be 27-29 mph

Mark that is about the same as mine when im the only one in the boat wound out.This boat is new to me so im not sure if thats it or if more can be squeezed out of it.
