1989 Force 85HP, kill switch

I tested the kill switch at idle today in the yard and it didnt do anything. The motor runs fine but after seeing this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UEETjztLqI I thought I would check our safety equipment. What would cause the kill switch to not work? Does anyone have a diagram on how to wire a new one correctly to the above outboard engine?

its a 2 wire kill circuit if its not working its 1 of 2 things.. either the switch is bad obviously or the previous owner if it wasnt you most likely took the 2 wires that go to that switch and spliced them together... Look at that first..

Thanks for the reply, Ill check out the wiring tomorrow but in the event it was wired improperly where do the 2 wires go?
