Thanks Wood,
any advise for the easiest and best way to trace the form of the hull to the wood?

Oh BTW I still try to get the steering out. Didn't move a bit.

Sure, School house compass with a pencil. First cut the stringer as close as you can get it. Make sure it is a couple of inches taller than needed. Then lay the stringer in there and set the compass to about a 1/2" - 1" and scribe it along the bottom of the hull. It will give you a perfect representation of the hull. Do your final cut. Then cut the stringer to the appropriate height.

Allright, got my first two pieces of wood in, thanks for the tip again with the school compass. I am happy that it went in smooth, I was kind of scared, don't know why now. LOL

On your steering, Have you tried the puller yet? HF sells one for $10 bucks. I used it on mine. I had to use some penetrating oil and a BFH but if finally broke loose.

I tried to get it off, no success so far. I will go to Auto Zone and get me a steering wheel puller. HF is like 1.5 hours away from where I am. The town I life in is just a dame desert sh***hole.

Miller Time!! :D:D

Managed today to put the port stringer in, cut the front bulkhead, and put the flore of the gas tank compartment in. Just need to lower the the tank a little bit.
Good enough for today

Re: 1989 Four Winns 200 Horizon Restoration

Your stringer IS an integral part of the Strenth of your hull. A Plain Butt joint is NOT advisable. Even though it will be "Sistered" a butt joint will be susceptible to the stresses of wave and wakes. I would highly recommend you try to attempt the scarf joint in some manner. IF you do just use a butt joint then PLEASE use Epoxy on the joint and NOT Poly resin. Epoxy is much stronger. If you do this then you have the issue of Poly NOT wanting to stick very well to Epoxy so you have to make sure NOT to get much squeeze out so your layups will work. A lot to think about
