I recently had a new power head installed. The first time i took it to
the lake we could not accelerate past 2000rpms. When we tried to
go full throtle it would die but it would always start back up.
Took back to the mechanic and he was finding no problems.
We took the boat back to the lake again and tried to accelerate from
the dock and could only get 1500 rpms before it would die, attempting
to do full throtle. After 30 minutes of trying to get the boat on plane
we eventually succeded and were able to break in the motor using
the break in procedure. After consuming approx. 27 gallons of doulble
oil fuel as required, we stopped the boat and from idle position we
could not get back on plane and had to motor back to the ramp at
1000 rpms.
Is this possibly a stater problem??? My mechanic is reluctant to put
it on cause he is unable to find a problem on the dyno.
Can you help me diagnose this. These mechanics come highly recommended
but I am frustrated. Any help you can give I appreciate.
