1989 vro pump

can you change out the vro and put a eletric fuel pump in its place or can you rebuild the fuel side of the vro and if you put a electric pump in how much fuel pressure is needed for a 40hp 89 model

Just buy this pump that runs off the engine vacume. You have to premix after you install it though. I just did this conversion due to a faulty VRO set up. It is a direct bolt on.

it is a little more complicated than just the pump. using that pump is the correct conversion. on the port side of the motor rear of the starter, you will find 3 bosses, 2 bolt holes, and a plug to remove. this is the mount for the new pump. you will need to block the pulse line from under the carb to the old VRO pump.(just a bolt in the hose, and a hose clamp). remove the Vro Harness and the oil tank harness. reroute your fuel lines. premix your fuel, and you should be good to cruise.
