Just bought this 1989 Yamaha 90hp. Trim/till has a problem only during operation in trim positions.
Out of the water the squeal/chatter only happens at the start of a lower position of the motor (while the trim rods are touching) then trimming out, but has to have been lowered before, once it is moved up from an initial position the noise won't happen unless lowered to any trim position again, When the rods aren't touching all is good (rod tips have been greased).
While in the water and moving, the squealing happens when holding trim control button down or just bumping it to move up or down, (in trim position only). Strangely.. the noise problem doesn't always happen in the water unlike out of the water system is every time I make it act up.
I have done the air bleeding in manual/release mode 5 times up n down probably. The fluid was always full, clean, and never lowered while bleeding.
Observation....... out of water, there is much chatter/vibration touching the upper hydraulic line, (comes off big cylinder) at the start of powering motor up. Once out of that initial 1 second going up all is smooth, (louder at lowest start position) but the noise and feel are significant.
Oh, I have pulled, cleaned, and greased the large pin at top of cylinder shaft, also tried loosening the tilt tube with no luck.
I appreciate any suggestions to this problem, thank you.
