i am having a friend clean carbs on motor do you think i would need the floats changed 20dlrs each any one have idea how often they go bad or do they go bad do think i should spend money on them i am getting the kit with new jet and gaskets this boat motor satfor about 3-4 years with same gas i have changed it but can get past 4200 rpm wot and only 22mph thats why i am having carbs cleaned they might be gummed up is that possible and could that cause low rpm and mph ? thanks any info will help

I have thirty or so carbs from various aged Chrysler and Force engines and not one of them has a fuel soaked float.

You also need to replace-don't even bother checking it--the fuel pump diaphragm and gasket. They harden with age and don't deliver fuel as well as they should. The diaphragms are only 3 bucks each and the gaskets are a buck and a half, so buy a couple and have at least one extra on hand. Fuel pump is under the electronics mounting plate and the top half is held on with six fillister head screws. Easy!

thanks your a lot of help i will do that i will replace the diapram pump tonight that might be my problem it sat for 3-4 years with old gas test it out then clean carbs if needed thanks
