I regained motivation for this project and have made some more headway. I had the hull bead blasted a couple days ago and went to work on painting it this weekend. I decided to use epoxy primer direct over the bare aluminum and top coated with single stage urethane.

Here is another pic of the hull after blasting. I had stripped another boat using aircraft stripper and wire brush and this was way easier. :)

Here is what I used for paint. I've used it before a couple times and have had good luck with it and it is fairly reasonably priced.

After the primer dried for a couple hours I shot the gray stripe next. Less taping doing the stripe first. The nice thing about using the epoxy/urethane system is how fast things dry and you can keep moving along.

After a light sanding I taped the stripes off. They have his cool 3m tape for the pinstripe where you put the tape on and pull out the center section and you are left with 2 perfectly parallel lines of tape. Worked great.

Here is the finished product. I finished up spraying last night and pulled the tape off in the dark so I wasn't sure exactly how it was going to look in the light of day. I am actually pretty happy with the results when I inspected it this morning. No runs or sags and very minimal orange peel. I just used one of the cheap purple HF spray guns.
