I think it's cool that there are two Crestliner threads going at the same time. The transom setup on these boats is interesting. Even if they are a little harder to work on. In converting to an open bow will you have to reinforce the forward gunwale area any? I guess if you're going to have dual consoles with a walk through windshield that will add strength. Great progress by the way. You should check your foam for water though. Unless you've already done so or removed it. Following along.

Well i cut access holes to expose the last two bolts in the transom. They obviously never intended for these to come out as they just hammered over the extra thread length in order to cover them. So i will definitely have to cut them out. Ugh... Hope this is the last of the surprises with the transom.... mark

Its funny, with removing the hardtop i worried about structure but as it turns out the hardtop added no structure. It was fastened to boat with 1/8" bolts and caulk. thats it! Maybe because this boat was offered in an open model and hardtop... I am going to add some gunnel reinforcement which will also act as built in rod holders....

If you could reach in with a small grinder or oscillating tool on the nut, cut 1/2 to 3/4 way thru then split it open with chisel/hammer. Or cut that bent pc. of bolt flush to nut and work the nut off.

Cutting will certainly work but you might try something like a beefy adjustable wrench and large screwdriver to bend it back and forth until it breaks off. Just a wild idea from a former maintenance machinist.

Yeah, I'd use a multi-tool or a dremel to cut that bent bolt off so I could get the nut off.
