There is no manual for the boat. Well, there might be one that says " boat safely, always wear a pfd, and contact your dealer for service."

First things first. Check the stringers in the bottom of the hull and the transom near the bottom and around the motor bolt holes, for moisture and internal rot.

You are probably right about the covers. One would be to access the bilge pump. The other, with wires, is probably to access the fuel tank sending unit that operates the fuel gauge.

Good luck to you on this project. It would be great to involve your Grand kids if possible. Even if all they do is hand you a wrench. As far as any manual that will tell you anything other than capacity/, length, max HP and fuel tank size a boat manual other than that doesn't exist. I'm sure you know that from your 5 other boats. I don't know why no specific manuals for boats. Maybe someone here does. Auto manuals will tell you how to use and care for seat belts and open the hood and trunk but a boat manual doesn't explain how to even start it. Get yourself a manual for the motor, most likely available here on iboats.

It is the journey not the destination a wise man once said. Enjoy the journey.
