1990 yamaha 8hp 2 stroke won't start

Found a mint cond. fresh water run motor but it hasn't run for 6 years.
It was stored in a heated garage.
It has spark but won't start and I think old fuel in the carb is the problem. Is there a way to start it eg. a little gas in the cylinders or do i have to take the carb apart. Any hints? Thanks.
