Hello, I have searched for hours over this subject but can't seem to find the answer i am looking for or what troubleshooting i need to do and where to start.
I have a 1991 15HP Force 2 Stroke that had been sitting for some time. Ran compression test, found one cylinder had low compression, blown head gasket, replaced, great compression now. Replaced spark plugs. Started right up.
Took out for the first time, ran great. Except for the last 15 min it started acting like it was missing. I thought maybe it was a carb issue. Got boat back to the garage and took off carb and cleaned. Sprayed down with carb and choke cleaner, took air wand to it and cleaned every possible crevise.
Took boat back out. Fired right up. Idled great, put into gear ran descent and troll speed and then when i throttle up it falls on its face, doesn't completely die but just shakes like crazy and won't get to full speed. From about 3/8 throttle and up just runs like crud.
Brought back to my garage, recleaned carb, put garden hose on in driveway, fired right up, could shift from forward and reverse and neutral and no dead spot what soever, could rev up and no dead spot.
Took boat back out and same thing again, just falls on its face a little before half throttle. I am lost on where to start trouble shooting from here. It seems to me that it is either a timing issue or a carb issue but i can't seem to pinpoint it. I have a fair amount of mechanical knowledge and all the tools but am lost when it comes to 2 stroke outboards.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
