It stopped dead. Not because it was hot but because the wires to the stator and trigger melted and shorted on the exhaust side..
It's got good compression still (thank god) but no spark. The stator and trigger have failed the DVM tests so I know it needs to be replaced..
is there any way of testing the CDI box? I am not sure the engine is worth the investment of both items.
I'll also be doing the impeller. When I lifted it after the overheat the lower unit was covered in thick weeds up to the water line. I was pulling them out of the water inlet.
