The Z bracket/channel is located normally at the bottom of the transom, the transom bottom rests on it.

Waterman - I see. Interesting. There are no limbers (not sure of the term at the lowest point of ribs that allows the water to drain. I see yours has them.

Hand-to-hand combat small garden shovel and the wet foam. I have numerous cuts. Spent 6 hours on my knees.

Removed the tank 38 gal tank yesterday. It had 20 gallons. Put it I'm my van. Found a hole at the top, leveled with the hose, right by the edge. See if you can find it. Tank was encased in foam and crooked on top of it. Did anybody even wonder why we never hear from former Starcraft employees or engineers? I was on a Chris Craft site and former employees would pop in, proud reminiscing, commenting etc. Where's the pride of Starcraft employees/engineers?

Found two holes in the hull right under the foam right under the tank. Will have them welded shut when I bring boat to my welder to have the outdrive and bolt holes closed off. I bought a gallon of Gluvit for the rivets and plating as well.

Any good suggestions on how to clean up this old girl for the gluvit? Before and after:

Pressure cleaner is being fixed. I should have it tomorrow. I need a break anyway. I'm exhausted.

Sold the engine $400 and trim pump $100. I'm up to $750 and I still have the outdrive. I should be able to break even before I have to sink some serious coins.

As far as the paint scheme, I'm thinking about going old school. Off white and Gold metal flakes like this 1980 Hammond:

Dang you're really ripping into the ole gal, a man on a mission is tough to stop!

To clean up that nasty mess I would use Super Clean, the stuff works great and is carried at WalMart.

Waterman - Thanks for the suggestion. I just bought some ZEP citrus product at HD. I have an appointment with my marine welder on Monday so I have all week-end to clean her up. I'm also using a god scraper. Goof off works really good on the glue.

Welcome aboard, Bald Eagle Jones. Feel free to make suggestions and I welcome advises. I might not act on all or any of them for that matter but I will give them consideration.

Sweet. Leak test that hull before you take it to the welder. It's easy to miss a rivet that needs more than just a replacement, or additional holes or cracks.

Peter - Thanks for the heads up but I had my appointment. Dropped the boat this morning to Scott at Aim Alloy welding of Davie, Florida. I should have it back by the end of the week. We also talked about replacing the gas tank.

I got the boat back. The transom warped a lot more than I had expected.

I would think that will straighten out when you put in the wood transom and bolt it all back up.
