1991 Yamaha 200 warning buzzer

Warning buzzer goes off when turning ignition switch to on position. It does not stop upon starting motor. Great water flow, oil tanks full and pumping. Did the 91's have a voltage sensor which could alarm like this? Could it just be a loose battery connection? It seems that the motor is also RPM- limited.

I have a similar problem. Yamaha C60TL. New battery. I have checked wiring and connections. Does not seem to be overheating. How was this problem resolved?

I also have the same problem on my 1997 130hp.This does not happen all the time just every now and then.The last couple times I've just started the motor and after a few seconds it stops and everything is fine.I've checked all the normal things and everything seems fine,but this still bugs me as I do a lot of offshore fishing.

I am not aware of a voltage sensor on the 91 models. If you have low battery voltage, it is unlikely the engine will start. You can disconnect the temp sensors one at a time to eliminate a shorted temp sensor. The oil warning system should be the only other source of this problem. Check carefully the connections for it first.

I think I read somewhere that the alarm on my motor '96 C60 could be either overheating or low voltage. It doesn't have oil injection so no low oil alarm. I replaced my battery (it was shot) and the motor ran quite a bit longer before the warning buzzer went off. I was going to replace the charging coil because it seem to have 0 resistance, but before I take the flywheel off I would love to have somebody confirm (or dispute) the direction I am heading.<br /><br />jv

In jv's case, a voltage situation is highly possible. Check the voltage at the battery before starting the engine (13 volts or so). Check again with the engine running. It should increase if the charging circuit is working. If not you are going in the right direction.
