AHHH!!!! <Me pulling my hair!> I have a '92 L Drive 120 motor that I cannot seem to get fixed! It is still only running to 2500 rpm. I have rebuilt my fuel pump and just installed a new OEM Stator. When I bought this thing, the guy said he had put a fuel filter inline. I noticed it was a El Cheapo from Wally World. Does anyone think I should take this filter off, like it is causing restriction? I would love to get this boat running wothout taking it to someone and paying them $90/hr.! Thanks guys!

That filter probably won't hurt anything. They are good for the motor.First do a spark and compression test.Post your results. Then check the reeds.Check the carbs for sinc(all the butterflys open correctly).Make sure the linkage is going to WOT.
Ethanol is messing with a lot of motors.Make sure the hoses aren't soft.It makes the hose delaminate from the inside.J

Compression was good...107, 115, 115, 120. Spark was good at idle, not sure about WOT, doing it by myself. I'm changing all fuel lines tomorrow and taking that filter off. If it runs without the filter, then I will by a High Flow filter for it so I am still offering protection.

Sounds like a cylinder isn't firing. Check for loose wires.
