[h=1]At first, I assumed it was the dual coil, because I pulled the #1 spark plug wire while idling, and nothing changed. I replaced the coil (spark plugs and wires) and the problem was still there. At higher rpm, the engine will run on 2 cylinders, but not idle to mid-range. The only way to make it run on both cylinders (momentarily) is to tap the choke (primer). The VRO on this engine has been disconnected, all the components are still there. The engine ran fine all season until now. 1992 E50TLENM

When the primer valve opens fuel goes directly into the carburetor throat.----This fuel bypasses the metering circuits within the carburetors.----This would suggest that the top carburetor needs work.

Forgot to come back and report that I found the issue. The intermediate orifice on the #1 carb had backed out and went through the #2 carb and was sitting on the reed valves. Replaced the screw (orifice) and everything works great!
