I have a problem with the motor misfiring (not at idle) when first up for the day. Once the motor has overcome the initial misfiring(perhaps because it has reached operating temp?) there is no repeat, except for the occasional miss/surge at full revs. I recently had a stator replaced, but don't think this would have any bearing on the current problem. I fitted new plugs with no improvement, however the old plugs(35Hrs) showed the top 2 clyinders slightly oily with the bottom one fairly clean. Perhaps a carby adjustment is in order, if so would appreciate procedure.

Welcome to iboats.

Obviously that cylinder isn't burning wery well. That could be caused by a bad reed, plugged carb, weak spark, low compression, bad lower crank seal, blown head gasket. A simple carb adjustment ain't likely to help. But there is one thing I want you to look at and that's to make sure the throttle butterfly is opening along with the others. A linkage could fall off that would just have to be snapped back on.

a clean spark plug in one cylinder can idicate water in that cylinder

possible head gasket leak could cause that..

Linkages OK. Dismantled carby's, all OK except bottom carby had no washer under seat. Compression in cylinders: 1=130psi,2=122psi,3=125psi. After oil added to cylinders-1=165psi.2=150psi,3=145psi.
