I have a 1992 Johnson 200 model # vjslens,I was
told it should have casting #333108 on the cylinder
heads,but it has 333809-4 instead,any idea what
engine this is? I was also wondering if a set of
boysen power reeds would help this engine get up
on plane faster?

Did you buy this engine used, or why the question about the heads? Boysen reeds generally will improve idle, and mid-range punch.

Re: 1992 Johnson 200?

engine is on a 92 stratos 201 bass boat i bought
back in the summer,I have just been playing with
the performance,props,motor heights & such & was
thinking about changing the reeds.dhadley had left
me a reply on another post back in the summer when
i was finding out about the engine & he said the casting # on the heads should be 333108,I looked
& they were not so I was just wondering if someone
had changed the powerhead.

Someone may or may not have changed the P/H. I bought a brand new in-the-box XP one time and the heads were not 3108's. In fact they didnt match. One was a -1 and the other a -4 or something like that. Anyway, I put on a set of 3108's and didnt really see any difference on the boat I had at the time. On a Stratos you may see a difference.

Tell us more about your set up and where youre at now.
