I have 115 Merc on 17' Alumacraft Trophy which has had a hesitation problem when advancing throttle position. Increasing slowly is ok but trying to advance throttle fast sometimes causes it to kill. It had an intermittent starting problem which was fixed by replacing stator assy. Runs fine at topend and idle, problem just on acceleration.

John

There's an accelerator pump on it. It could be out of adjustment or it could need a new diaphragm. You might try opening the idle mixture screws 1/4 turn to richen the mixture first. They're on the top of only the top two carbs.

Your problem sounds a lot like what I'm going through with my '97 115. Does yours have a miss in the midrange between say 3000-3900 rpm? Or does it just sputter bit as you move the throttle forward and settle down.

Mine has a miss in the mid-range but it otherwise runs great at 4000 revs and above.

See http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=29;t=013332 for the description of my problem.

Just on accelleration from idle. Slight hesitation if you advance throttle slowly kind of like a miss and much hesitation if you dump it. I am guessing it is when the other 2 kick in. Very noticable if you are pulling a skier or a tube.

John

The carb link and sync is crucial to the proper operation of the 2+2 motors. I'd have that checked.
