Chris fixed his by replacing it with a new MPI engine.

simple work around is to add a momentary switch to the fuel pump, pressit for 5-10 seconds before pumping the throttle.

It'll fire right up.

I have had very similiar issues. I have a 1992 4.3LX. Stupid me, I didn't realize there was an electric fuel pump and I was pumping the throttle before each start up and flooding the motor.

Even still, I have a hard time cold starting in between uses spanning more than a week. If it sits more than a week (which, this summer I am sorry to say that it has), it won't start. Not that it is hard starting, it won't start. I replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor, verified gas in the carb. Regardless, I even have had to resort to starting fluid. Very frustrating. Once up and running, it starts right up.

Thanks for all the info regarding the 4.3LX cold start issue. I installed the momentary switch "work around" in about 30 minutes. Presto --fixed. For those of you who rebuilt the Weber carb, I keep wondering if the Weber problem could be similar to the Rochester QuadraJet 4 bbl I experienced on an 80 Corvette and 82 Chevy Blazer. They leaked gas at the bottom of the float bowls and the fix was to either paint the seams underneath the float bowls with clear fingernail polish or dab on a coat of JB Weld. Just a thought....The switch is great so long as we don't have a clear/proven fix for the carb problem. Oh BTW, the original owner of my 1993 Larson had this problem (without a resolution) since it was new. He just lived with it as I have for the last 5 years.
