1993 7.4L/Bravo 1 - Fuel/Carburetor

My engine has the factory Weber 4 bbl. About 2-3 times a season, I have to take the carburetor apart and clean the brass screens below the needle/seat valves for a really fine almost powdery substance that is causing my engine to lose power and bog out. I change the filter regularly but this substance is getting through. I'm guessing it's the DANG ethanol eating up the aluminum lines/tank and it's an aluminum oxide or similar substance. Since this material is able to flow through the filter, would it be ok to remove these screens and let this substance pass through, burn and go out the exhaust? These carbs are easily rebuilt but it's just the hassle and the worry of getting stuck. I'm going to clean the tank as best I can through the fuel gauge sending unit access but that's limited at best. Any ideas?

Can't see any problems with removing the screens, as long as you have a GOOD filter before the carb.......

I'm tearing them off on the next rebuild. Just seems that those things catch everything that gets past the filter. The stuff is so fine I can't see any harm it could do to the engine. It just cakes on the screens over time but if you touch it they just disintegrate to a fine powder and what seems almost like a liquid state. Really odd.
