i had the lower unit taken apart and off by my local outboard guy (johnson certified but not a dealer). anyway lately after i ran it in a barrel (Wednesday) It has been leaking a dark thick substance. Oil it looks like. When i did run it the fuel mixture was way off and it smoked like crazy. This problem didnt occur until i ran it in the barrel at least i didnt notice this dark substance coming off before.
Its leaking on the right side if you are in front of the motor.
is this a huge deal? can i do anything about it without dismantling the motor?
it maybe makes a drop during the day at most

As TD says nothing wrong, quite normal.

I expect that joint did not leak before it was disturbed by your mechanic. It is just a metal to metal joint with no gasket or jointing compound. Now it has been disturbed it leaks but it does not matter and requires no remedial action.
