Hey fellas, go a Johnson 50hp that I just bought off a guy. Motor is in excellent shape.

We hooked up the battery cables and control box to test run it on the stand, and the motor started to trim down as soon as it saw power. So the motor was laying on its side and the motor mounted trim switch was damaged. I disconnected the trim switch and problem solved. Tested the switch and it is certainly bad.

Went to the control side trim switch, and when I press the switch nothing happens, up or down. Does the motor mount switch need to be connected for the control box switch to be used? Does anyone have the part number for the '79-'95 (red plug) control box trim switch? I cant seem to locate a parts diagram for the control box. Thanks guys!!!

Thanks for the help, that is the motor side trim switch, which I am not going to replace. I am trying to find the switch in the control handle.
