Actually fromthe manual they are 155hp for the 2bbl and 175hp for 4bbl. These are both prop rated and are about 30 horses shy of the crank rating used in previous years.

155 seems low to me. I thought in 1994 they were around 190 at the prop due to the vortec heads? But ive been wrong MANY times before.

No vortec heads 'till 1996. In 97-97 merc had both vortec and non-vortec engines. The vortecs were identified as "Gen+".

Yes a 2bbl vortec 4.3 is 190 at the prop.

Since it's a 94 boat, it may not be a 94 engine/drive package, could be a 93 which may or may not even have a balance shaft.
Can you get the Merc SN for that engine?

Re: 1994 4.3 HP rating

Found out today after I posted earlier that it is actually a 4.3LX. I have found info on it and it seems to be a 4 barrel carb and is rated at 180hp at the prop. Is that info correct. Boat is a few hours away so im just trying to get some info on it before I drive and take a look at it. I know it is a fresh water boat so I know that is good. Is there anything in particular I should look at while at the dealer. Because since it is so far away I want to be sure it is in tip top shape before I bring it home or not.

One thing I can tell you, it's a 95, not a 94 engine.
SN 0F354186 is a model 443L100HS which is a 95 4.3LX
But I can't tell you if it is a 4 or 2 bbl carb, you will have to look.
It's also a 175 hp engine, the 190 hp rating was for the Gen+ engines from 96 and newer.
