Re: 1994 Bayliner Rendezvouse Ressurection

Just off the top of my head, I used about 20 gallons of resin, and a ton of glass. I bought a few rolls of the already cut @6inch and 12 inch stuff probably 25 ft of each one roll of 3 x 25 ft 1708 one roll of the 8oz mat 3x25 ft. Its hard to tally it all up in my head . I basically followed frisco jarrets methods. I spent more than I anticipated, but this girl had alot more surface area (bulkheads, stringers and such) than your typical flat or v bottom.

Re: 1994 Bayliner Rendezvouse Ressurection

Ok weather getting a little better now, so getting back at it. I had gotten the cap back on before winter hit...sorta. strangest thing the one area I would expect it to fit back together easily it would not. see pic. trying to force it on I cracked the glass, which probably isnt so bad since it wouldn't fit. Question is best way to fix this area. I am planning on getting it set where it should be, and laying a couple layers of 1708 on it. I have sprayed the hull beneath the area with mold release so hope the resin wont stick to that area. Sound like a plan? I'll post a pic of the ground/sanded down area later tonight.http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums/y504/audijunky_13/DSCN1741_zpsc73b6366.jpg

Actually, getting the cap to fit back over the transom area is usually the most problematic. I'd prop up the cap with a 2x6 and then I'd grind down the top edge of the transom until the cap fit quite easily, then recoat the edge with resin and a layer or two of CSM. Let it cure and then re-fit the cap.

Thanks for responding Wood. The actual area where it wasn't fitting was a corner behind the transom. And I cracked the cap in that area trying to force it so I kinda fo did what you said but to the cap and not the hull/transom. What I did do was grind down the busted glass, fitted the cap, coated the hull with mold release, tapped it off as well, and the put on a layer of mat, followed by 2 layers of 1708, and one final layer of mat. (kind of made the cap a little wider in the corner it was tight). sanded, filled with resin filler, sanded and gel coated. Doesnt look brand new but its solid. As of now I am waiting for a day off and decent weather to fit the outboard back on...Getting excited

Finally the forums are working again. And The great unvailing happened over memorial day weekend. I got her launched, she rode fantastic. Had some issue with the old fuel lines at first, paddling this boat back to the marina with a broom was probably an interesting site, luckily the wind was at my back. After replacing those all was right with the world!!! The only thing I have now is the exhaust leak on the old force. I just take the cowl off while idling around the slip, she stalls out if I dont but once out of the slip I just put the cowl on and roll out. I love this thing...

Thank you so much to all the experts on here for helping along the way. With out you all and Frisco Jarretts Videos I never would have accomplished this.
