Hi,
I cant get this motor running. i have rebuilt the Carb with a kit. it was apperantly sitting around for a few years before i got it. if i hold 2 fingers over the carb it idles rough but will rev up and stay idling but soon as i move my hand it dies out.

it also seems to have alot of white smoke from the exhaust.

carb is geting gas, i took the screw out and pump the bulb and gas squirted out.

When you rebuilt the carb did you take it apart fully and soak it in carb cleaner?

If your seeing a lot of white smoke that means your getting water in the spark chamber which will also cause it not to run. Go ahead and clean the carb. but be very careful to make certain it is cooling properly when running. You might need a new head gasket. Check your compression before just to see what it is and let us know. Best of luck. Rick.

Just checked compression. 120 exactly on both cylinders.

Those are real good numbers. Should be no head gasket problems. Still, you should not be seeing white smoke. Lets wait and see what happens with the cleaned carb. Rick.

i just put the carb back together and it seems to be working alot better. it still idles rough but its alot more responsive to the throttle. before it would bog down when i tried to throttle. i need to adjust it tomorrow.

there is even more white smoke this time. maybe it is the wd-40 and carb cleaner residue burning out. ill update if its still very smokey tomorrow.
