I have a 1994 Evinrude 15HP that I cant get started. It was running and starting great until the other day. It would start up great and idle, then when I would put it in drive and give it some gas, it would sputter and almost stall, then once it got some gas it ran great. Then next time I used it it would start rough, then when I would put it into gear it would immediately stall, and it would take 4-5 startups before I could get it not to stall and run, and once I got it into drive without stalling it and up to speed it ran great. Then towards the end of that day it got to where it wouldn't start at all. Turned over great, just no start. Had my neighbors help me ( I know nothing at all about motors, just fishing) and we were able to find that I was getting no spark at all. I bought new plugs, still nothing. I checked the plug gap, still nothing. My neighbors seem to think its the "coil", or something along those lines. I was just wondering what some of you guys thought before I went spending money on parts I may or may not need.
Also how difficult would this be? Remember I have little mechanic skills. Thanks in advance for any help.
