I own a pontoon that is difficult to see the motor from the Helm and needed a guage to help tell me what the motor was trimmed out to. Well I had found this kit (Mercury 820540A3 what I used ) & possibly 820540A1 that will fit and works well. It seems difficult to find but hey are still available. It took alot of research to find the right unit and kit, the Mercury dealer could'nt find anything and had said it was a dealer option at purchase and recommended buying a newer engine with the option. Well I hope this helps someone in the same situation. I added a few pictures of the unit (some are a little blurry).

Re: 1994 Force 70HP Trim Sender Kit Install

Thanks for the info, I have been trying to figure out what trim kit I needed for my 1992 70hp force. I used the part # you posted & ordered one. Should be here Friday. Did you install yours yourself or have somebody else install it?

Re: 1994 Force 70HP Trim Sender Kit Install

Skypilot52,

I found out that these motors have many mercury parts on them and this is what led me to the unit. I installed the kit in the storage lot with a high speed cordless drill and a steady hand. It took about 2 hours to complete and I already had a gauge hole from a previous motor. The instructions were detailed and where you drill the holes on the motor already had drill sets from the factory on the outside stern (left) side of the motor and aluminum is easy to drill. I have a big couch seat and gas storage and sundeck covering my motor and it is imposable to see it. I wish the pictures were a little better but I was more focused on installing the kit. Next trip out to the boat and I will take better pics. I left out two nuts because the arm is slightly thicker and the bolt setup was different than what was illustrated. Like I said, it works great and it is well worth the time. If you have any questions feel free to ask or need any pictures that aren't fuzzy. The paint matched too.
