Hey all, just got this 1994 Johnson 175 on a boat I purchased. I ran some seafoam through it to help clean it out some and pull the plugs and noticed one plug had this tan color to it, and figured it might be just part of the decarbing. So I put new plugs in like I've read you're supposed to after decarbing and fired it up and pulled the plugs again just to check and it looks like the same plug has the same problem.
Compression is at 110 PSI, so that checks out. Last time I checked the spark jumps to 7/16 Gap, so that checks out. All other plugs are fine, and running on external tank so know gas is clean. Motor doesn't have a miss when running, and when I pull the spark plug wire you can hear it drop down. I pulled the carburetor and the float was a little too high so I reset the float so it's even. And the problem is still there.
As you can see and picture it looks like it might be having slight water on plug. Kind of hard for me to believe that it does with the good compression. I checked the head bolts and three of them were a little un torqued. So I tightened them back up last night, but I haven't started the motor since then.
If anyone can give me some input on if they've ever seen a plug like that it would be great. I'm gonna recheck spark later, and maybe even swap in a different ignition coil. Thanks
